Our treatinent of the International S. S. Lessons is specially for th id E Bible Students and Teachers. By some this feature is considered indispensable. 6 oleer "his Journal stands firmly for the defense of the only true foundation of the Christian’s ho i — Redemption through the precious blood of “the Man Christ Jesus, who gave Himself a Ransom oe oe Spon De Rie Any pepndlated — all.” (1 Pet. 1:19; 1 Tim. 2:6.) Building up on this sure foundation the gold, silver and precious stones (1 Cor. 3:11-13: 2 Pet. 1:5-11) of the Word of God, its further missiau is to—‘Make all see what is the fcllowship of the Mystery which a has been aid in God, . . . to the intent that now might be made known by the Church the manifold wisdom of God"—"which in’ other A was mr mde known unto the sons of men as it is now revealed.’—-Eph. 3:5-9, 10. * Agee It stands free from all parties, sects and creeds of men, while it seeks more and more to subjection to the will of God in Christ, as expressed in the Holy Scriptures. It fs thus free te detiane boldly Sthateeccer the Lend hath spoken—according to the Divine wisdom granted unto us, to understand. Its attitude is not dogmatical, but confident; for we know whereof we affirm, treading with implicit faith upon the sure promises of God. It is held as a trust to be used onl ‘a His service; hence our decisions relative to what may and what may not appear in its columns must be according to our jud smeut of His good pleasure, the teaching of His Word, for the upbuilding of His people in grace and knowledge. And we not only invite but urge our readers to prove all its utterances by the infallible Word to which reference is constantiy made, to facilitate such testing. TO US THE SCRIPTURES CLEARLY TEACH That the Church is “the Temple of the Living God"—peculiarly “His workmanship ;” that its construction has been in progress through out the Gospel) Age—ever since Christ became the world’s Redeemer and the Chief Corner Stone of Hi L ARC s Temple, th b wh when finished, God’s blessing shall come “to all people,” and they find access to Him—1 Cor. 3:16, 17; Eph. 2 Does: Gene 28:14; Gal. 3:29, That meantime the chiseling, shaping and polishing of consecrated belevers in Christ’s Atone chis ’ ping ment for sin, progresses; and whe last of these living stones,” ‘‘Elect and precious,” shall have been made ready, the great Master Workman will bring all toether in the First Resurrection; and the Temple shall be filled with His glory, and be the meeting place between God and men through out the Millennium.—Rev. 15 :5-8. That the Basis of Hope, for the Church and the World, lies in the fact that “Jesus Christ, b aais , . ; » di . by the grace of God, tasted death for e map,” ‘‘a Ransom for all,” and will be “the true Light which Hghteth every man that cometh into the world,” “in due time.” Heb. 2:9; John 1:9; 1 Tim. 2:5, 6. That the Hope of the Church is that she may be like her Lord, “see Him as He is,” be “partaker of the Divine nature,” and share His glory as Wis joint-beir—1 Jobn 3:2; John 17:24; Rom. 8:17; 2 Pet. 1:4 That the present mission of the Church is the perfecting of the saints for the future work of servite; to develop in herself every grace; to be God’s witness to the world; and to prepare to be kings and priests in the next Age.—Eph. 4:12; Matt. 24:14; Rev. 1:6; 20 ‘6 That the hope for the World lies in the blessings of knowledge and opportunity to be brought to all by Christ’s Millennial Kingdom — the Restitution of all that was lost in Adam, to all the willing and obedient, at the hands of their Redeemer and His glorified Church—when all the wilfully wicked will be destroyed.—Acts 3:19-23; Isa. 35. —aaaaaaooaooaoaaaqwwawunununeeumuoeeee eee eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeT_e eS PUBLISHED sY WATCH TOWER BIBLE AND TRACT SOCIETY 119 FEDERAL ST., PITTSBURGH, PA., U.S. A. We fully join with you in this enthusiasm, believing this splendid reference library will be a spiritual stimulus to the church generally and a wonderful legacy to others. We recall the words of Brother Russell, written twenty-one years ago: “‘He [the Lord] sees the dark night of trouble approaching, but before sending the people away he instructs all who are his disciples to supply them with something 10 eat—with spiritual food, with truths pertaiming to the kingdora, which will afford some strength and some encouragement during the dark hour of the time of trouble.’"—-Z '99-48. The truths contained in StupIES IN THE ScrIpTuRES will be greatly augmented by these reprint Watcu Towers which, aside from their able presentation of all phases of the divine plan, also contain a historic record of the work, progress, joys, trials and development of the ‘feet of Christ’ amid the closing scenes of the Gospel age. Some have inquired whether the issues are to be reprinted verbatim or if they are to be revised. We answer that all matter is being reproduced in its original form. We are not even excluding articles which were subsequently seen in ciearer light, but are endeavoring to indicate by footnotes where the later presentations may be found. We are also retaining the old page numbers throughout so that the references as have been given in the Berean Bible Comments and elsewhere will not lose their value. To reduce the bulk we are omitting some of the less important Jetters and other relatively unimportant items, such as pilgrim appointments, convention and business announcements, etc., but in other respects the record is complete— a fasting monument to the faithful work of Pastor Russell, the seventh and last messenger to the Gospel church. These reprints will be bound in seven volumes; Vol. I 1879-1887 Vol. IV tgo1-1905 Vol. IL 1888-1895 Vol. V_ 1906-1910 Vol. Il] 1896-1900 Vol. VI tgri-1915 Vol. VII 1916-1919, and Index. The first three volumes will probably be ready for shipment in August, the next three in October, and the last one later. We will print only enough te supply the needs of the friends. It is therefore important that those who want them should order now, cash with order, as we know not whether another edition shall ever be printed. The books will be durably bound in two styles, as follows: RETAIL PRICES: Carriage charges prepaid by us to any part of the world, Style A: Half leather, gilt top, stamped in gold: Complete set (7 volumes) ........0 ee ee eee eee $18.50 Single volumes, each .. 1.2.2.0... 0.00 eee eee 2.70 Style B: Green cloth, plain edges, stamped in Oriental gold: Complete set (7 volumes) . $14.00 Single volumes, each ....... 2.0... eee eee 2.00 WHOLESALE PRICES: For the convenience of class secretaries, or others, who can send orders for fifty volumes (or seven complete sets), or more, the following prices will apply, carriage charges collect: Style A: Complete set (7 volumes) .......... $18.00 Single volumes, each 60... 0. ee eee eee eens a” 2.60 Style B: Complete set (7 volumes) ..........4. 12.00 Single volumes, each ........- 0... cee ee eee 1.75 These prices bring the forty years of Towers, including binding, to about one-third the original subscription price.
