THIS JOURNAL AND ITS SAGRED MISSION TEs Journal is one of the prime factors or Instruments tn the system of Bible Instruction, or “Seminary Extension,” now being presented in all parts of the civilized world by the Warca Towser Bisie & Tract Society, chartered A. D. 1881, “For the Promotion of Christian Knowledge.” It not only serves a8 a class room where Bible Students may meet in the study of the Divine Word, but also as a channel of communication through which they may be reached with announcements of the Society’s Conventions and of the coming an its traveling representatives styled “Pilgrims,” and refreshed with reports of its Conventions. ur “Berean Lessons” are topical rehearsals or reviews of our Society’s published Sruprzs, most entertainin very helpful to all who would merit the only honorary degree which the Society accords, viz, Verbi Des Minato (V Dane hee translated into English, is Minister of the Divine Word. Our treatinent of the International S. S. Lessons is specially for the older Bible Senments and Teachers. By some this feature is considered indispensable. 8 Journal stands firmly for the defense of the only true foundation of the Christian’s hope now being so _—Redemption through the precious blood of “the Man Christ Jesus, who gave Himself a Ransom if corresponding ee ee all.” (1 Pet. 1:19; 1 Tim. 2:6.) Building up on this sure foundation the gold, silver and precious stones (1 Cor. 3:11-15; 2 Pet 1:5-11) of the Word of God, its furtber mission is to—‘‘Make all see what is the fellowship of the Mystery which has been hid in God, . . . to the intent that now might be made known by the Church the manifold wisdom of God” —“which in other Ages was not made known pinto the sons of men as It is now revealed.”"—Eph. 3:5-9, 10. It stands free from all parties, sects and creeds of men, while it seeks more and more to brin, subjection to the will of God in Christ, as expressed in the Holy Scriptures. It is thus free to declan boldly Wtheteoseer the Land hath spoken—according to the Divine wisdom granted unto us, to understand. Its attitude is not dogmatical, but confident; for we know whereof we affirm, treading with implicit falth upon the sure promises of God. It is held as a trust to be used ‘only in His service; hence our decisions relative to what may and what may not appear in its columns must be according to our judgment of His good pleasure, the teaching of His Word, for the upbuilding of His people in grace and knowledge. And we not only invite but urge our readers to prove all its utterances by the infallible Word to which reference is constantly made, to facilitate such testing. TO US THE SCRIPTURES CLEARLY TEACH That the Church is ‘the Temple of the Living God”—peculiarly ‘His workmanship ;” that its constructi bh i 3 on has been in pro out the Gospel Age—ever since Christ became the world’s Redeemer and the Chief Corner Stone of His Temple Ceress aronge when Anisted. spas blessing shall come “to all people,” and they find access to Him.—1 Cor. 3:16, 17; Eph. 2:20-22; Gen. 114; Gal. 3:29, , : “ That meantime the chiseling, shaping and polishing of consecrated belfevers in Christ’s Atonement for chise ’ ring sin, progresses; and wh jast of phese Reyne aones, Pine and Pree shall have been made ready, the great Master Workman will bring all towether e@ esurrection ; an e Temple shall be filled with His gl hi tut the Millenniom Teer! tobe Pp. s glory, and be the meeting place between God and men throughThat the Basis of Hope, for the Church and the World, Hes in the fact that “Jesus Christ, b: aais , . , by the grace of God, tasted death for every man,” “a Ransom for all,” and will be “the true Light which lighteth e Th i an ” - ro 2:9: John 1:0; 1 Tim 2:5. 6. ig. ght very man that cometh into the world,” “in due time.”— at the Hope of the Church is that she may be like her Lord, “see Him as He Is," be “pa er of D. Each book is 8%x11x1¥% inches in size and the type is the same as that used for the Sunday School lessons in this issue. Each volume contains a full-page frontis-piece portrait of Brother Russell at ages varying from 27 to 64, according to the years covered by the volume. Volume I contains the reprints of the years 1879-1887; Vol. II, 1888-1895; Vol. III, 1896-1900; Vol. IV, 1901-1905; Vol. V, 1906-1910; Vol. VI, 1911-1915; Vol. VII, 1916-1919 (June), and a Topical and Scripture Index.
