The Nations Rebellion

From the League of Nations (1920) to the United Nations  (1945)and other alliances like The Board of Peace (2026), human alliances repeatedly defy God's enthroned King. The nations are still gathered together around their own Tower of Babel.

The Context

In 1945, while World War II still raged, 50 nations gathered in San Francisco for the United Nations Conference on International Organization. For 63 days, from April 25 to June 26, they plotted the post-war world. The UN Charter was adopted on June 26, 1945, and officially came into Force on October 24 that same year.
But there was one problem: they ignored the Rightful Ruler.
In 1914, Jesus Christ was enthroned as King of God's heavenly Kingdom. The appointed times of the nations had ended, Luke 21:23, 24 . Yet the nations gathered in San Francisco as though God's Kingdom did not exist, establishing what they called a New World Order in total defiance of the enthroned Christ.
Jehovah's Witnesses had been warning against this for years. As early as 1944, the booklet One World One Government clearly associated human efforts to establish a One World Government with the Tower of Babel, doomed to destruction at Armageddon.

The Pattern: League of Nations → United Nations

This was not the first time. In 1920, the League of Nations convened in Geneva. Religious leaders declared it the political expression of the Kingdom of God on earth. But Jehovah's Witnesses identified it as the abomination of desolation, a counterfeit kingdom standing where it ought not, in the holy place. Matthew 24:15
The Vatican, excluded from the League, promoted totalitarian movements in order to remake and alter it's form in such way that it would fit with the papal plans for world domination. The League bowed from the scene during World War II, into the abyss.
Yet Revelation 17:8 prophesied: the beast was, and is not, and yet is destined to ascend out of the abyss. The League returned as the United Nations. As Let God Be True (1946) explained.
The immoral woman, Babylon the Great, that is the so-called Christian religion, sits upon the current world power and order. In 1919, the Federal Council of Churches of Christ in America declared the League of Nations to be the political expression of the Kingdom of God on earth. The United Nations, successor to the League, continues this pattern, a counterfeit kingdom standing where it ought not.

The Results Are Clear

Now, in 2026, we can draw a straight line from San Francisco to today. The United Nations has failed. Despite its 80 years of existence and lofty ideals, the world remains in crisis, endless wars, economic instability, geopolitical tensions, refugee crises, and moral decay. The UN has not brought peace.
Recognizing the UN's failures, the nations are trying again. The Board of Peace (BoP), mandated by United Nations Security Council Resolution 2803 on November 17, 2025, and it's charter formally ratified at Davos on January 22, 2026, the Board of Peace was created as an international organization led by the United States, with Donald Trump as Chairman. Currently, 22 nations have joined, including Israel, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Turkey, and others.
Reportedly, President Trump has stated that the BoP could potentially replace the United Nations, while simultaneously expressing continued support for the UN. European nations have expressed concern that the Board could usurp the UN's role.
According to official Vatican sources, Vatican Secretary of State Cardinal Parolin stated that the Holy See will not participate in the Board of Peace because of its particular nature, which is evidently not that of other States, that there are points that leave us somewhat perplexed. There are some critical points that would need to find explanations, and that one concern is that at the international level it should above all be the UN that manages these crisis situations. This is one of the points on which we have insisted.
Any alliance for World Order like United Nations or The Board of Peace or any other global international forum like World Economic Forum is in defiance to Jehovah's enthroned King from 1914, because their actions have nothing to do with Jesus the Christ of God, that is the rightful ruler of this Planet. The so called peace conferences can move from San Francisco to Geneva or Davos, but the rebellion remains the same: the nations refuse to accept Christ's rulership. In other words: the nations are continuing to be gathered together around the construction of their modern Tower of Babel.
Jehovah's Witnesses that support the jwunited project do not endorse the UN (Vatican's favorite), the Board of Peace (which came as a reaction to the disappointment in relation with UN about World problems), or any human alliance or international organization that is for global governance. They do not lobby, support political parties, or seek positions in governments. Their allegiance is to the Kingdom under Christ Jesus, the New Jerusalem that comes down out of heaven from God. We are not compromising ourselves and will never compromise. We continue to adhere to to the Watchtower articles and we are for The King Jesus Christ enthroned in 1914, The Rightful Ruler of the Earth.

There Is Hope

But there is good news! God's Kingdom is not a human organization. Since 1919, Jehovah's Witnesses have preached this message throughout the world, announcing that the rulership of the Earth will pass into the authority of the King, which will bring about a new world being established on Earth. Jehovah's Witnesses continue to sound the alarm regarding Armageddon and God's New World.
As The Truth Shall Make You Free declared: While the world writhes in anguish because of its woes... Jehovah's witnesses are optimistic and rejoice... for these see that deliverance is near.
Will you trust failing human institutions, or will you flee to Jehovah's Kingdom? As Jesus said: When these things start to occur, raise yourselves erect and lift your heads up, because your deliverance is getting near. Luke 21:28 Armageddon will soon bring the end of this wicked world, and eternal relief for those who choose the truth.
